Trade replay & review

Compare a hypothetical SL/TP scenario with historical candles without changing the recorded trade, receiver settings or any broker order. Recorded execution evidence and the candle model are deliberately separate.

Before you start

Replay requires Pro/Lifetime access and your own connected historical-data source on an existing supported Cloud route: MetaApi, api2trade or TradeLocker. Historical availability depends on the provider, broker and symbol. cTrader Cloud is not available. Provider fees may be separate; no public or synthetic feed is silently substituted.

EA or Desktop journal trades can be reviewed against an explicitly chosen owned Cloud price feed. A different account can have different prices and trading sessions. Cloud-only registrations can review only their own Cloud trades, inside the same workspace.

How to use it

  1. In Trades, open the trade’s Replay action. In the Cloud journal, choose “Review candle replay (Pro).”
  2. Expand the recorded timeline to inspect stored stages and their timestamp provenance. An execution report is not automatically a broker-confirmed fill. Events can include sibling TP legs on the same signal/account.
  3. Choose the historical-data account explicitly. Enter a loss-side SL, ordered profit-side TP1–TP10 and one total lot budget. Optional targets may be left blank.
  4. Leave cash estimation off unless you know the contract/currency value and costs. If enabled, enter cash value per 1.0 price move per lot, currency, round-trip commission, absolute-price spread, per-side slippage and a signed total swap adjustment.
  5. Run the review. It reads at most seven days from the recorded entry anchor, with bounded page/time limits. This is an on-demand read, not a background trading job.
  6. Use the shared cursor, Play, Next minute or Show all to inspect synchronized 1-, 5- and 15-minute views. Higher-timeframe buckets include only revealed minutes. On narrow screens, scroll within each chart to keep labels legible.
  7. Optionally load recorded event-price markers. Download the current chart as SVG or the private review report as JSON. Saved scenarios retain all ten targets, source and cost assumptions for a rerun.

What the result means

Targets and volume
Volume is split into equal theoretical target legs inside the total budget. A partial target does not close the remainder. Broker minimums, lot steps, live target weights and liquidity are not simulated.
Ambiguous candles and gaps
If SL and TP appear in the same bar, the model assumes SL first. An adverse opening gap uses the worse open, not a guaranteed stop price. Exact intrabar event order and fills cannot be recovered from candles.
RUNNING / CLOSED / WIN / LOSS / BREAKEVEN
RUNNING has remaining volume marked at the last sampled close, not realized profit. CLOSED has no explicit cash valuation. WIN/LOSS/BREAKEVEN refer only to assumed net cash after the supplied costs, never a verified broker result.
INCOMPLETE
Missing boundaries, missing minutes, a fetch cap or an excluded mid-minute entry can prevent a complete path. The raw model values are provisional. Market closures are not filled with invented bars. Entry anchors based on fill-report receipt, receiver reports, signal receipt or journal-date midnight are not verified broker entry times, even if the sampled bars are continuous.
Cash estimates
Zero costs mean excluded costs, not verified free execution. The conversion is assumed constant, not reconstructed historically. Running estimates include assumed round-trip exit costs. Historical P&L currency is not recorded per trade, so the review does not invent a comparable dollar difference.
Sampled MAE/MFE
Shown only with an explicit close, positive exit and a complete sampled path. Entry time is still unverified as broker time: these are sampled review-window statistics, not full-trade broker metrics. Only full bars ending before the close are used; entry/exit-minute tick ranges are not inferred. The actual trade is not overwritten.

Privacy, saved runs and limits

Saved history shows your latest ten scenarios. Legacy runs using the earlier FX shortcut are labeled and must be rerun; they are not comparable to the new model. If saving fails, the result stays visible with a warning. Changing inputs clears an obsolete result, and closing/switching trades cancels stale browser requests.

Exports can contain trade prices, outcomes and your assumptions. Inspect them before sharing. Downloading creates no public link or mentor permission. This release does not automatically take terminal screenshots, provide tick-level backtesting or certify broker execution. Past and hypothetical performance do not predict future results. Trading involves risk.
