Telegram → MT5

Copy Telegram signals to MT5—then see what actually happened

Parse supported entry, stop-loss and TP instructions, apply your own risk rules, send them to MT5, and keep the broker response beside the journal record. Start with a demo account; live money is the final step.

Choose the correct receiver

MT5 execution routes, without the vague promises

The source and parser can be shared, but the final receiver changes what must stay online and which commands are available.

New-account allowance

MT5 EA

Runs inside MT5 on your PC or VPS. Never-paid accounts can start with one account, one channel, and 12 signals each month.

Local Windows route

MT5 Desktop

Receives and executes locally through MT5. The Desktop product has a separate one-time trial and paid access.

No PC required

MT5 Cloud

Uses an eligible hosted execution provider. Availability and commands depend on the connected provider and account.

A worked example

How the MT5 signal copier handles a real signal

The Telegram message

GOLD BUY 2345-2342
SL 2335
TP1 2350
TP2 2360

An illustrative signal in a common format, not a trade recommendation.

  1. 1 · Read

XAUUSD (mapped to your broker's symbol name, such as XAUUSD.m), buy, entry zone 2342–2345, stop 2335, two targets.

  2. 2 · Size

With 1% risk on a $5,000 account and a $10 stop, the copier sizes about 0.05 lots in total, split across the two targets.

  3. 3 · Send

Two orders reach MT5, each with the stop and its own target, and the broker's response is recorded.

  4. 4 · Follow

When the channel later posts "TP1 hit, move SL to entry", the copier moves the stop on the order that is still open.

Most channels don't write signals this neatly. Some post the direction first and the stop a minute later, and in our study of 1,189 Telegram signals two in three arrived with neither a stop nor a target. Decide what the copier should do with those before going live; the signal formats guide shows what it reads.

Set it up in four evidence-based steps

The guided setup measures what your account has actually proven. It does not mark a route ready just because you opened the page.

Start the guided checklist
  1. Step 1

    Create a free account

Connect only a Telegram source you are authorized to read, then choose EA, Desktop, or Cloud.

  2. Step 2

    Connect an MT5 demo

Install the selected receiver, enter its token, confirm the version, and keep paper-only safeguards enabled.

  3. Step 3

    Set risk and mapping

Choose risk sizing, permitted targets and commands, then map channel symbols to the broker's MT5 names.

  4. Step 4

    Run the demo lifecycle

Prove open, modify, partial close, breakeven, cancel, and close with broker-visible evidence.

Your risk rules

Fixed lot or configured risk sizing, target selection, limits, and execution options are applied before supported orders.

Route visibility

The signal timeline separates received, parsed, dispatched, accepted, rejected, and filled events where the route reports them.

Journal after execution

Connect the execution result to the trading journal so review is based on what happened—not what the channel promised.

Management commands

Test close, close all, breakeven, partial close, modify SL/TP, and cancel pending against the exact receiver you use.

Check exact MT5 capability coverage

Broker account mode, minimum lot, symbol suffixes, receiver version, and route can all change the result. The compatibility matrix labels each capability Supported, Limited, or Not supported and shows its tested version and date.

Telegram to MT5 questions

Can I copy Telegram signals to MT5 automatically?

Yes. TradeJournal Pro supports MT5 through the Expert Advisor, the local Desktop receiver, and eligible cloud execution providers. The correct route depends on whether you can keep a device online and which account features you need.

Which Telegram-to-MT5 route should I choose?

Use the free EA when you can keep MT5 open, the Desktop receiver for the local Windows workflow, or cloud execution when you do not want your own PC or VPS running. Complete the guided demo test before enabling live trading.

Does MT5 netting work like a hedging account?

No. A netting account combines positions for the same symbol, while a hedging account can keep separate tickets. That affects multi-TP behavior, closes, and reversals, so verify your account mode before testing.

Can the MT5 copier manage a trade after entry?

Supported MT5 routes can process commands such as close, partial close, breakeven, stop-loss or target modification, and pending-order cancellation. Exact coverage differs by receiver and account mode; use the compatibility matrix as the current source of truth.

Is there a free Telegram to MT5 signal copier?

Yes. A new account can use the TradeJournal Pro EA free: one MT5 account, one Telegram channel and 12 signals a month, with no card. The Desktop receiver has a separate one-time trial, and cloud execution is a paid route.

What happens if a Telegram signal has no stop loss?

You decide per channel: skip signals that arrive without a stop loss, or let the copier add a fallback stop a set number of pips from entry. Many channels post the stop in a later message or not at all. In our study of 1,189 Telegram signals only about one in three included a stop loss, so set this before going live.

Can I use the MT5 copier on a prop firm account?

The copier includes prop-firm controls such as daily-loss and drawdown limits. Whether signal copying is allowed is decided by each firm, so read your firm's rules first and test on its demo or trial account.

Prove Telegram → MT5 on demo

Connect one authorized source, send one controlled signal, verify the broker order, then test one management command. Upgrade only after the route passes.
